What’s the fastest you’ve ever been on a keel boat (under sail?) Fifteen and change on Max.
Most wind you’ve ever sailed in and where was it? Not enough. Anywhere.
Favourite boat? Hmmm. Bluenose I guess. Spray and Gypsy Moth IV would be close. Max would be the most funnest I have crewed on, though Occam Razor is also wonderful. (hey guys!)
Favourite regatta? Whidbey for the, uh socializing, Cow Bay for the Doctor, Straits and Swiftsure for sheer excitement. I seem to have lots of favourites.
Most embarrassing moment as crew? Almost crashing us into another boat on the start of Swiftsure 07 while on bow with us on port.
Light rum or dark? Gosling Black Seal if you’re buying, thanks.
Favourite position? In the middle of all the happening stuff.
Best sailing injury? I think I have to put ‘never been injured on a boat, thank goodness’ since the server keeps sending File Size Too Large when I try to send this email.
Best skipper? There’s a skipper? Oh the dude with the tea cozy on his head. Yeah, him.

What’s the fastest you’ve ever been on a keel boat (under sail?) About 15 knots running through Race Rocks (Swiftsure 2007 on Mad Max, Swiftsure 2005 on Goose & Duck).
Most wind you’ve ever sailed in and where was it? 50+ knots, Southern Straits 2005.
Favourite boat? MadMax for racing, my Mirage 29 for cruising.
Favourite regatta? Cowichan Bay for the sun and crab dinners, and Swiftsure for the serious competition.
Most embarrassing moment as crew? Running aground while going the wrong way around a navigational aid
Light rum or dark? Dark spiced.
Favourite position and why? On trapeze flying a hull, or on transom blasting downwind under spinnaker.
Best sailing injury? Knock on wood

What’s the fastest you’ve ever been on a keel boat (under sail?) that would be in my J24… downwind in 40kts with the shute up…coming out of Algerine Passage… passing MadMax, planing of course and the top portion of the keel was visible to the MadMax crew, no time to think about how fast, but there was one big rooster tail.
Most wind you’ve ever sailed in and where was it? off Brooks in 2000 VI360… only Max sailed on to Ucluelet, the rest of the fleet took refuge back in Winter
harbour….55kts plus.
Favourite boat? has to be Max, I keep coming back.
Best regatta? the Vanisle for sure.
Most embarrassing moment as crew? all forgotten.
Light rum or dark? Dark Rum, coke and lime.
Worst injury? shoulder dislocated trying to control the main in a heavy wind jibe…not recommended.
Best skipper? Micah’s the Man.

What’s the fastest you’ve ever been on a keel boat (under sail?) 20-25 Kts on an 80ft Maxi downwind sailing from England to the Canary Islands.
Most wind you’ve ever sailed in and where was it? 60 mph with 30ft seas on a 50ft yacht in the Bahamas.
Favourite boat? Mad Max, of course and My parents old boat a Passport 40.
Favourite regatta? All the ones that I participate in.. .
Most embarrasing moment as crew? Falling overboard as the boat tacks and the main sheet gets jammed, I am hanging on to a lifeline with one hand and the crew are pulling me in as we are racing. I spent sometime down below drying off.
Light rum or dark? Light rum and juice..
Favourite position and why? Being shackled spead-eagle like a mainsail while the cabin boy….. ohhh you mean the position on the boat while racing! I like to be in any position that keeps me busy- trimming, grinding, etc.
Best sailing injury? Knock on water I have never had any serious injury other than some bruises, knicks..

What’s the fastest you’ve ever been on a keel boat (under sail?) 14.4 knots down a wave heading into race rocks main and no.3. on a choate 27 Goose n Duck.
Most wind you’ve ever sailed in and where was it? 45 knots.. Swiftsure ’05.
Favourite boat? The one that will take me around the world.
Favourite regatta? Whidbey.. poetic mark roundings, captain morgan and cute sailor boys.. what more could I ask for?.
Most embarrassing moment as crew? I’d have to say when Steve threw a water balloon at my crotch and it exploded at Cow Bay… yup. It was a good shot.
Light rum or dark? DARK
Favourite position and why? Pit, I’m a multi-tasker.
Best sailing injury? not really one injury but many many small ones.. polka dot bruises from the pit at whidbey ’05 spring to mind.

What’s the fastest you’ve ever been on a keel boat, under sail? Its relative to size and so its Martin 242 named Royal Roads, entire crew at the back, 13.8 knots and a rooster tail.
Most wind you’ve ever sailed in and where was it? 80 knot line squall.
Favourite Boat? Laser
Favourite Regatta? CORK
Most embarrassing or memorable moment as crew? Falling over board as foredeck crew, or having my nose broken by my own fist hanging onto a halyard as a 45 year old woman yanked it into my face.
Light rum or dark? Dark & Stormy
Favourite position and why? Helm; at the start-line; more thoughts, variables and tension at 5 knots than at 100 km/h.
Best sailing Injury? Broken nose, duct taped with Kleenex up my nostrils and black eyes.
Favourite knot? Reef, cause then its blowin’.

What’s the fastest you’ve ever been on a keel boat, under sail? Mumm 30 ‘Yummy’ (now Spiny Norman) – 18 knots and some change. Been much faster on a certain yellow trimaran.
Most wind you’ve ever sailed in and where was it? Race Passage, nearly every time I am there (on the way home).
Favourite Boat? Currently… that sick new TP52 design I saw online the other day / tomorrow… who knows. Falling in love is easy, I do it all the time.
Favourite Regatta? VOR for the vicarious living. Swiftsure for the Sunday dawn madness. Cow Bay for the post race parties. Van Isle 360 for the prestige.
Most embarrassing or memorable moment as crew? After the start in Port Hardy (1999 Van Isle 360), apologizing to the crew of Arluk II that I lied my way onto the boat, and had never actually sailed before…
Light rum or dark? Dark & Stormy
Favourite position and why? Assisting Danger Dave on the Bow, effectively establishing Super Danger.
Best sailing Injury? I got a bruised ego that one time – damn it hurt.
Favourite knot? Bowline.

Most wind you’ve ever sailed in and where was it? 40+ haro/rosario strait on max
Favourite Boat? the soling, being “the biggest dinghy in the world” and max of course
Favourite Regatta? One-design & shark spit for racing without ratings; RTC for fall weather; Straits for spring winds?
Most embarrassing or memorable moment as crew? Most memorable… not getting the bent spinnaker pole off the mast rounding the leeward mark
Light rum or dark? I like ‘m all, light, dark & in between.
Favourite position and why? At the helm surfing down the waves, ’cause it feels good.
Best sailing Injury? I’d say the one i havent had.
Favourite knot? Clove hitch, so simple so elegant, form follows function….

What’s the fastest you’ve ever been on a keel boat (under sail?) It’s not how fast you go, its what you do slow while going fast.
Most wind you’ve ever sailed in and where was it? Straits 2005
Favourite boat? Kiwi, my Martin 242, One design rules!!!! And the pat answer is Mad Max.
Favourite regatta? Cow Bay. Delivery to any regatta is a close second.
Most embarrassing moment as crew? Asking for the time to the start only a couple of seconds after the 5 minute horn has just gone. As a side note I did have about a million thoughts in those two seconds.
Light rum or dark? Dark and Stormy
Best sailing injury? None. Knock on Wood, I wrecked a perfectly good manicure a couple of times.
Best skipper? Boson, he is a killer on the start line.

What’s the fastest you’ve ever been on a keel boat (under sail?) 16+ Knots on MAD MAX while surfing down waves under spinnaker. YAHOO, this is why I sail!!!!!
Most wind you’ve ever sailed in? Over 50 Knots in the 2005 Southern Straits.
Favorite boat and crew? MAD MAX, right next to my Peterson 35 “Windyfeat”. Sorry Micah but I have a real shower with hot and cold running water on Windyfeat and it still is a fast boat.
Favorite regatta? Cowichan Bay Regatta for the party, Swiftsure International Regatta for the racing (I think they may both soon be replaced by the Van Isle 360.)
Most embarrassing moment as crew? I don’t get embarrassed, but for the sake of the BIO, Round Bowen Island Race 2006. Yes Cari, the torch was passed!
Light rum or dark? Dark but give me my Patron Tequila and I will be real happy! (Just not at the same time, see “Most Embarrassing Moment” above.)
Favorite position and why? Grind and trim, trim and grind, lets just make the boat go real fast.
Best sailing injury? Slicing my thumb to the bone while carving up some ice to stop the swelling in TWO other crewmate’s injuries… Dave, Cari, You know who you are!
Best skipper? Is he the guy yelling at me all the time? If so it’s Micah van der Heide.
Best MAD MAX cheerleader? Boson! Yeah, he drives us all nuts barking at bubbles, twigs, sea weed, logs, birds, other boats, ….etc, but we love him. Just don’t give him anymore REDBULL!
